Our Bag Sales began as a solution after we would often end up with large amounts of items that would not be picked up at the end of the consignment period. We wanted to make sure these items were going to good use! These items are now transferred into our Bag Sale Room. These sales are held every 2-3 months and shoppers can stuff as much as they can into a shopping bag for $20 on the first day and $10 the second day. We choose a local charity or non-profit and donate 25% of proceeds from the sale. Customers get a great deal and we are able to help our local community!

If you’re a consignor, you can choose to leave your items that don’t sell within 90 days to go into the Bag Sale or pick them up. Remember that items not picked up by the end of the consignment period become store property at that time.

We also use our Bag Sale Room to provide Ashland Church Community Emergency Shelter Services (ACCESS) guests with a few new outfits during their transition.

Businesses rely on community so it only seems natural that community should rely on businesses as well. We are a collective, many gears working together to keep the machine running. There are so many amazing programs and selfless individuals in Ashland. We will always try to do our part to support these organizations that truly make Ashland “someplace special.”

“Kim gives back to the community. She has partnered with the Ashland Church Community Emergency Shelter Services (ACCESS) program to help homeless women and families get a new start by providing, at no cost to the guest, an interview outfit for ACCESS guests. The challenges facing the homeless women in our community are great and in the 3 years I have been working with ACCESS, our guests never have a nice interviewing outfit.

Kim saw the need and selflessly decided to donate an outfit for our guests. Last year we served 21 female guests, each of these women needed help finding or keeping a job. Frequently, ACCESS had to purchase an interview outfit for the guests. Since ACCESS exists only on donations, the funds for an entire interviewing outfit were extremely limited. Kim became aware of the ACCESS program when an apartment above her store was used as a place for ACCESS guests to stay until they can find permanent housing. She immediately contacted me to see how she could help.”

“Kimberly’s Closet and Kim Swanstrom are amazing supporters of our cat sanctuary. They had a bag sale fundraiser this summer to help with the care of our overwhelming number of rescues. Due to their efforts, we received a check for $50, which went toward feeding and caring for these kitties. We are so grateful to have her business in our community.”

“On behalf of myself as a customer, and as president of No Pawz Left Behind of Ashland OH, I would like to offer an endorsement to Kimberly's Closet.  As a customer, I have bought and sold on consignment.  Kimberly's Closet is a wonderful asset to the community.  They always have a nice selection of clothes for a very reasonable price.  I've always been met with very friendly employees, including the owner, Kim Swanstrom.   Kimberly's Closet has also held a "bag" sale fundraiser for No Pawz Left Behind, where they donated 10% of the day's sales to our organization to help us continue helping the homeless dogs at the Ashland County Dog Shelter.”
